While Malta is not exactly famous for classical white sandy beaches, its coast is still idyllic – from small rock beaches washed by the azure waves to high cliffs, it’s breathtaking.
And what is more – here and there you can find quaint beach clubs – LIDOS.
In our family, we are love Maltese lidos, so let’s talk about our TOP 5 and WHY:
1. MEDASIA Playa
This is somehow an iconic lido spot, its very centrally located, in the heart of busy Sliema, and boasts various pools overlooking the open sea. It has its own sea access and their sushi is just amazing
HACK: Mondays are usually for free or reduced price (5 euros).
2. Café del Mar Malta
Speaking of iconic, our fav place is Cafe del mar. Located in the north of the island, overlooking St. Paul’s Bay has a wonderful pool, best vibes and great drinks.
HACK: Stay till sunset, it’s simply breathtaking.
3. SURFSIDE Lido
One of the most popular spots with young people, located between Sliema and St. Juliens offers a cozy atmosphere and unique “roman baths” style pools on the beach level.
HACK: They have a nice restaurant on the upper terrace. While the food is not our favorite, the view from there (and sitting almost right above the sea) definitely is.
4. SKY Beach Intercontinental
If rooftop overlooking busy Paceville, infinity pool and cocktails are your thing, then we can recommend nothing better than SKY BEACH in the Intercontinental hotel, St. Julien’s.
HACK: You can stay till late and enjoy a dinner or cocktails under the stars.
5. AQUALUNA
Located on the promenade between Sliema and Gzira is one of the newest Lido spots in Malta. We certainly recommend visiting for a cozy dip in the water while shopping around.
HACK: Enjoy the distant Valletta views.
